Yesterday was one of those – ‘hey maybe i should shave half my head and put a hello kitty bow into it’ – kind of days. Thanks Caitlin at Impulse for the reverse ombre color and the great cut! I will upload some better photos tomorrow, I have been running around like a banshee and wanted to get some up now. xo

hooray!

About these ads

So, I had to unlike Nasty Gal on Facebook and remove it out of my favorites on my toolbar. I simply cannot afford a single piece from the site at the moment. I am done teasing myself with all of the amazing colors, cuts, fringes, fabrics, brands, shoes, sparkles… anyway.

Instead of bitching about my lack of expendable income, I will find one piece a week that I want more than life, and I will make it myself. Lorraine’s fabric in Pawtucket, RI, sells great fabric for $1.99 a yard. So this week I will make this:

out of this:

You cant really tell by the image, but the fabric is actually a light weight velour in a pea-green color. The trim is a great ivory. I am going to look like I stumbled out of the 70′s! Stay tuned for updates :)

Oh and, I have never made a long-sleeve dress before. But I totally got it. Right? Haha.

Oh Craftgawker, where have you been all of my life? And why hasn’t anyone told me about your wonders? I stumbled across this DIY paradise earlier today and I am totally loving all of the amazing projects. Craftgawker scours the internet for cool DIY blog posts and compiles everything into a neat little archive. Awesome.

Anyway, I want to make this antler mobile. But I would like to make my own, synthetic antler rather than use Bambi’s father’s. Click on the images below to be taken to the neat little tutorial over at ‘ilovetocreate.’

I am not really into babies though, so this might serve as a funky wind chime or an accent for my bedroom.

This post is image heavy and I saved the best picture for last!

Joshua and I have been slaving away all weekend, making all sorts of wonderful things. Here are some quick shots of my costume…

You may ask, What am I? Well. I am a space & time traveling bunny that got pulled out of a magicians hat. Duh.

Satin pornj cape with light pink faux fur, tassel closure, light weight fleece lining and pretty trim. with little peekaboo hearts on the inside.

Pink leggies, they match the fur around the hood. The trim matches my booty shorts, halter top and armies.

Here is the whole situation… wowzas.

Removable feather, bell and tinsel at the end of the ties on the halter top!

Bow-tie that I made for Joshua

Mask that Joshua made for me!

Heres a little sneak peak of the whole situation :)

so I rocked this corset last night at work and it was a big hit. so sexy but not comfortable, not even a little bit. couldn’t breath, let alone run around for 4 hours and make drinks for the drunken masses.

Anyway. The brand is Pleasure Doing Business, and they have a bunch of awesome pieces floating around the internet, mostly on Revolve.com. I scored mine for $10 bucks on closeout, cause its a super tiny xs that regular human beings shouldn’t be able to fit in to. Its WAY too small for me, but I needed it anyway.

Here are a few other pieces that I like, click on the photos to hop to Revolve.com!

The corset is sort of like ace bandage material – 18% rubber.

<3 you all.

…fuzzy, glamourous utility belt!

Here is a photo of belt #1 & belt #2. My friends with an eye for detail will notice the differences! Its like one of the annoying games from the newspaper where you have to pick out the subtle changes between two images.

I made another (very similar) belt for Joshua. As you can see by the two photos above, On the 2.0 version I added heart detailing on the outside of the pockets and another clip on the back of the belt. The pockets are also a bit bigger to accommodate his massive smart phone, its pretty much a genius phone. I also figured out the eyelets so the closure is much cleaner and resilient.

Here are some photos of the process and the final product! I really improved upon my design and I can’t wait to make some more for my friends :-) Who wants one??

I really like the raw edges, it makes it look much more organic and fun. I suppose I will start to play around a bit with trimming and such.

The belt is actually an upcycled nylon strap from a backpack ‘upholstered’ in material to match our costumes.

Blog Readers: Post a comment with your favorite colors and a little explanation of why you would love one of these belts! I will pick three names out of a hat and whip some of these up for a couple of my lucky followers :)

This June-uary has been absolutely fantastic huh? I couldn’t help but dig this silk scarf out of my summer clothing bin to rock on this 50-something degree day. Who doesn’t love a good popsicle? Especially when made out of Vintage Italian Silk and paired with my favorite caged dress!

Or maybe some nectarine-buttermilk popsicles?

And thanks for the overwhelming positive response about yesterday’s blog post. Less Clothes = More Views. Its so simple.

…i spent the afternoon making this:

Its a belt. With two removable pockets, a corseted closure and a little hook for hanging all sorts of things.

The pockets have cute little heart detailing and snap closure!

I really, rrreeaaalllyyy like it :)

Nylon straps make the pockets super durable and appropriate for 24 hours of mayhem in NYC.

Why did I make this, super shiny and fuzzy, functional (yet sexy) belt?

Its for a costume! (duh)
