So I saw an amazing iphone case at the mall the other day.It was furry, like a miniature cheeteahmouse. And I needed it. So I was like, “hey mr. cheap-chinese-made-cell-phone-accessory-guy how much is this ceetahmouse?” He was all – “55 bucks.” That was the end of the transaction.
Needless to say, I made myself the same thing..but pink..and better. I used a cheapo ($6) case and glued/sewed faux fur on it.
And I present to you, kupcake’s new pet. I don’t even have to feed her, all I have to do is plug her in at night.
The tail is really stinkin’-cute
Hello, can you hear me? I have this little animal licking the side of my face.
LIKE OMG!! REALLY??? NO EFFING WAY! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!
Ta-da!
Oh, and here is the god-awful $55 dollar version (which is only ‘god-awful’ because i can’t afford it)
My buddies over at Elektrick AVE Productions and Viral Sound comissioned me to sew some slip covers for these awesome crystal art installations. They are placed on stage and projected on with 3D mapping. We finished the project like ten minutes before they had to be brought over to Rock and Roll Resort, so I am not sure how much time the VJ had to play with the projections…but it looked awesome for the first go!! Here are some pictures of the process and a video from the festival, with the crystals in action. I can’t wait to see them in person!!!
Eli – Do you know how to sew spandex?
Me – Yes. …I mean… only if its for full-body spandex uniforms for the guys in Viral
Eli brought these things over to my house, and I was like…wtf am i supposed to do with these square crystals? They had to figure out how to build the tops of the structures, which was kind of a pain in the ass. But it ended up working out just fine!
It was a learning process for sure, but I enjoyed all the trail-and-error and problem solving that went i to this project. I value any opportunity to make something awesome! Especially for friends.
We put velcro down the sides of the crystals. In the future, I will probably use ties. Velcro is annoying and does not work with lightweight fabric. Fail on my part.
I reinforced the tops with a triangle made out of fleece, this helps the crystal maintain it’s point.
Ties at each of the corners help the cover stay in place.
Ta-da!! I gotta say, I am really proud of this project.
Screenshot from the youtube vid! what do you all think!?
Side note…. I am SO grateful to be able to help these wonderful human beings out. It is so nice to find a group of like-minded individuals who share your passion for creativity, awesomeness and life in general. Rock on friends <3
My next party is down in Philadelphia next month: 22 Thousand Beats Under the Sea. I want to be an angler fish. Mostly because i get to have a light on my head, obviously.
Can I make this sexy, comfortable and fun? yes.
What do you guys think? I can pretty much be anything my little heart desires, the recommended costumes are as follows: Pirate, Aquatic, Sci-Fi, Snork, Atlantean, Amphibian, Robot, Mayan, Alien, Merfolk, Siren, Tentacled, Astronaut, Egyptian, Mariner, GlamTech, Pornj.
Oh Craftgawker, where have you been all of my life? And why hasn’t anyone told me about your wonders? I stumbled across this DIY paradise earlier today and I am totally loving all of the amazing projects. Craftgawker scours the internet for cool DIY blog posts and compiles everything into a neat little archive. Awesome.
Anyway, I want to make this antler mobile. But I would like to make my own, synthetic antler rather than use Bambi’s father’s. Click on the images below to be taken to the neat little tutorial over at ‘ilovetocreate.’
I am not really into babies though, so this might serve as a funky wind chime or an accent for my bedroom.
